Love, Live & Local
Post-pandemic, in a cost of living crisis and particularly in the main area where we work in Falkirk, with the recent closure of Falkirk Town Hall and impending closure of many local community centres and other facilities by Falkirk Council, live events and everything and everyone who has a stake in them, all down the chain and across the spectrum, need support now more than ever.
Local activities and events, businesses and organisations, artists and venues provide immense value and contribution to our local community and economy.
Falkirk has a wealth of talent and creativity, working professionally and in the third sector, to boast about and we need spaces and support to showcase and develop that.
The benefits of live arts to mental and physical health and wellbeing and community and social cohesion are clear and long established and we will continue to call on local authorities and Government to sustain and improve cultural services in every way we can and this needs the public (the voters and constituents) support with this.
In these times we feel a responsibility to use our voice to encourage everyone who love theatre, local and live entertainment and performing arts to do the same and help maintain and develop the opportunities and services we enjoy for the next generation.
Otherwise in the future we may not have much to shout about at all.
It’s fantastic that many of us can so easily go to Glasgow or Edinburgh or another big city to experience shows and events in big venues but please consider that just as much fun and quality entertainment can be had right on our door step too locally too!
As an ongoing campaign, Project Theatre will always shout about and support those we work with and know about in the local community to do our part to Love Live and Local.
From using local venues for our shows and fundraising events, attending other shows and events, working with local artists to sharing posts on social media and encouraging our members, parents and audiences to support local too we hope to be a helping hand in keeping our local arts scene surviving and thriving as it rightfull deserves to.
